New Game Settings - Terrain, Climate, Size, Starting Conditions

Hello I was wondering where my shipwrecked maps have gone to. I use steam download but I was wondering if steam will soon add these great maps back into my game. Thankyou for the hard work and  the great way all creators add to the total game

We can't upload new mods to the steam workshop while the game is still in beta status.  (At least I assume this to still be the case, I haven't actually checked this beta 2, but the first beta we couldn't upload)

But I'm not sure why you wouldn't have shipwreck starts.

Are you using CC 1.7 - Journey or an earlier version?

How to download?

If you want to download CC Journey 1.75, you can click on Downloads, a dark blue tab at the top of this page.  When you download the file, it will be in a compressed format (.rar) because it is so big.  You will need to extract the .pkm file. If you don't have another program that does that, you can get 7-Zip free on-line.  The .pkm file will need to be put in your Banished > WinData file.  (Mine is located at: This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Banished > WinData)

If you have Steam, you can subscribe to it in the Steam Workshop instead.

I was playing the Mediterranean climate no snow start, and in the second winter, it snowed!  I am playing CC Journey along with Red Ketchup's Editor's Choice Mod, but I don't think that would make it snow.

Did you put RK's mod above or below CC?

I have RK's mod above CC.  If I don't put his first, then I don't get green grass, but instead get his brown dirt look.  Odd that having his mod above CC lets the green grass show without all his fodder and flowers, but if CC is first, it get's Red's terrain of brown earth, but not all his fodder and flowers.  I also am using a mod called Multi-start, that has various population starting conditions.

Load order:

Multi Start

Rk's Editor's Choice

Medieval town 2.04

CC Journey

Maybe having such a mix will make unexpected things happen.

I'm guessing that's the case since any of the 3 above CC 1.75 could have code that takes precedence over 1.75's code.

you could look into adding the CC terrain addon mod above the others.it might solve the snow issue,if that is 1 of the terrains.not sure if t would overide the RK fodder grass thou.

The CC Terrains mod ONLY includes terrains and won't affect the climates :(

I wish this list included descriptions for the terrain types.

Flat Plains vs Verdant Plains
Mountains vs Bleak Mountains
etc

While the name itself may seem self explanatory for some, I wish I had more specifics for what to expect.

The best way to discover the differences is to start a game using each terrain so you can look around.

1 thing i wish we could control the settings separately without overriding other mods.say we could have mods that controlled just the climate. add a mod to change terrains, and others that add or change plants and animals. whereas now,a terrain mod will over ride parts of another mod.for instance, the multiple start mod alters the number of start bannies.the way the game works,it loads that start and skips any other mods.say you have mods A,B,C,etc. the game won't add them together even if all have a medium start. it reads mod A and stops so it doesn't load the rest.

just think players would have more control if they could load climate, terrain, and terrain textures separate.then the game could add plants from A+B+C or animals, trees, etc.  been nice if LUKE had gave a way for players to choose from a list even.

CC does a good job of giving players multiple settings.some players computers won't handle the mod size. taking say the shipwreck start out of the CC.it will work but with CC settings.adding the shpwreck start to another mod like the North means you change things from the North mod.1 of the limits of the game itself.

There is so much we would have liked Luke to add. Unfortunately he just wasn't interested in making Banished even better. At least he made an OK mod kit which allows modders, using creativity, ingenuity and hard work, to do some wonderful things.
